Why FileFly asks for access — only to run features you use.
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE
Discover nearby FileFly devices on your Wi‑Fi/hotspot and transfer files locally. Multicast helps LAN discovery. FileFly is not used to upload your files to a FileFly cloud.
READ_MEDIA_*, READ/WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (older Android), ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION
Pick media to send and save received photos/videos to Gallery when you choose. Media location is only used if the OS exposes it with the media you select — FileFly does not track your GPS for ads.
CAMERA
Only to scan a Quick Connect QR code. No photos are uploaded to FileFly servers. You can refuse camera and still connect via discovery or manual Hub/QR display.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS
Show transfer progress and keep you informed while a transfer runs. You can deny notifications; transfers may still work in the foreground.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC, WAKE_LOCK
Keep large transfers reliable while the screen is off or you switch apps, with an ongoing transfer notification where required by Android.
REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES
Only when you explicitly receive an app/APK via FileFly and choose Install. Used to start Android’s package installer UI — not silent installs.
REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS
Asked only if you want more reliable background transfer behavior on aggressive OEMs. You can refuse.
MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
Needed for full-phone FTP and to auto-create/save into a FileFly folder in shared storage. You grant this in Android settings. Without it you can still transfer files and use Computer Hub; FTP over the whole phone will not work until you allow it.
